Associate membership in Lambda Chi Alpha allows for new members to enter the fraternity with respect and confidence since they have the same rights and privileges as an initiated brother, including the ability to hold an office and vote during weekly chapter meetings. In fact, Lambda Chi Alpha became the first fraternity to officially abolish hazing in 1972, replacing a pledge process with associate membership.

Below is some additional information regarding membership expectations:

Drugs and AlcoholIllegal drug use at our chapter house is strictly prohibited. Alcohol will never be purchased or provided by the chapter, and any alcoholic beverage consumption must be in accordance with the legal drinking age (21) in Mississippi.

Academic Standards and Campus Involvement: Academic success is very important to us. You will be required to maintain at least a 2.67 GPA to remain in good standing. We will encourage you to participate in campus organizations and activities so long as academic requirements are being met. Each member is also expected to perform 10 community service hours per semester.

Class Attendance: Members will not be asked to be at the house or participate in fraternity-related activities that would result in a missed class or class-related responsibility. This includes tutoring sessions, special instruction sessions, and meetings with faculty or advisers.

Associate Member Program: After accepting a bid, an induction ceremony will take place in the next few weeks to celebrate and officially begin membership with us. In addition, a big brother will be assigned, who serves as a personal mentor. Our program includes lessons related to our Seven Core Values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Service and Stewardship, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage.

Financial Obligations: There are several one-time fees incurred upon becoming an associate member ($112) as well as for Initiation ($235). Dues are assessed each semester based on whether someone lives in the chapter house on campus ($520) or not ($560); however, the first semester dues ($403) are lower to help offset the one-time fees set by our Office of Administration (OOA), bringing the total to $750.
